Martin Fitzwilliam (NLE)
Martin is the current Director of Performance and Standards for the eighteen primary schools within the St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Multi-Academy Trust and is accountable for their learning outcomes. He was recruited to the role of Headteacher of Christ the King Catholic Primary School in September 2007, just after a disappointing Ofsted inspection during which standards and leadership was highlighted as a weakness. After a successful and improved inspection in 2010, during which the Headteacher was identified as being 'outstanding', the school was judged to be outstanding in 2014. Standards have continued to improve and attainment is now 30% above national averages and progress identifies the school as being within the top 5% in the country. As a successful National Leader of Education (NLE), Martin has a proven track record of school improvement across the country. He is also a Lead Ofsted Inspector.
Judy Beer (SLE – Science)
Judy is the Director of the Leicestershire Catholic Teaching School Alliance. During her five years of leading science at Christ the King, she led the school to achieving the Gold Primary Science Quality Mark, the Gold Space Education Quality Mark and the Eco Schools Green Flag Award. In 2017/18 she was awarded a Primary Science Teaching Award by the Primary Science Teaching Trust and was made a fellow of the college – she is one of only two fellows in Leicestershire. Judy has supported schools across the Challenge Partner network with science, including guiding them towards achieving the Space Education Quality Mark. She is also an active member of the local science subject leaders’ network and has provided bespoke support to leaders across Leicester City.
